A rotational core exercise using a barbell anchored in a landmine attachment, engaging the obliques.
- +Enhances rotational core strength
- +Mimics real-life athletic movements
- +Allows controlled resistance progression
- –Poor form can lead to excessive spinal twisting and strain
- –Over-reliance on momentum can reduce core activation
This exercise targets:
Core
Obliques
Abs
Ratios are approximate and can vary depending on form and technique.
How to perform
- Set up a landmine and load light plates
- Stand feet shoulder-width, slight knee bend, abs braced, chest tall
- Grip the bar end with both hands at chest level, arms mostly straight
- Rotate torso and hips together, sweeping the bar to one side in an arc
- Pivot your feet to follow your hips; keep your back neutral
- Stop before losing control; don’t twist from the lower back or bend the arms
- Return through center to the other side, smooth and controlled; exhale on the sweep
- Start light, 8–12 controlled reps per side
